Kenny,
I'm so sorry to learn of your dad's
death. I think of y'all often and wonder how you are. Please
give Sue my love and ask her to call me sometime. Know that my
heart understands at this sad time.
Love,
Phyllis Girard (Walnut Place)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~To the family of Russ Boughnou;
I am one of the many TI’ers whose life was touched in a positive way by Russ. As a young graduate engineer I rejoined TI in 1968 after a four-year leave of absence for the military and graduate school. I went to work in Russ’ Advanced Projects group. After the loss of some programs, Russ helped arrange my transfer to Ridgecrest, CA, in 1968 and we maintained contact over the ensuing years. Then in 1976 Russ and I decided it was time for me to transition back to Dallas and he helped arrange that as well. I worked in his area for the next four years on various projectile and missile guidance systems programs. Much of that time I was working for Larry Schmidt. In 1980 I left the Defense group to join Corporate Finance for a career change. Russ and I had discussions before and after my move and he let me know he would help me rejoin the Defense group if this new career path did prove to be a good fit. Later as the result of a rotation of Finance people in 1989, I was back in Defense as a Finance person. I saw Russ on occasion and we talked about the good old days. He had managed the HARM program and later was named VP and served in a role that was a perfect fit for him, Strategic Planning. We had many interactions during our run to the Malcolm Baldrige award.
Russ was widely respected and admired for his vision and management style. There was no one better at putting together proposals to win military contracts. The government used to suggest that TI had proposal teams and operational teams, staffed by different people. There was some truth to that and Russ made it a winning formula for TI.
I offer my sincere sympathy to Russ’ family and regret that I will be unable to attend the memorial service because that would be an opportunity to reconnect with the great TI people that Russ remembered in his last days.
God bless you, Tom Boedecker tjboedecker@tx.rr.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My heartfelt sympathies are extended to the family of Russ Boughnou. Russ was one of the very best at TI, and it was a high honor and true privilege to have worked with and for him. He was the consummate leader and manager, and his personal integrity and genuine compassion were unmatched. He was a role model and a friend. Russ' influences on my professional career and personal life were many and positive, and for that I will always be grateful. He will indeed be greatly missed. With sympathy and respect, Bob Hately ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
